Streamyx is also the only fixed broadband internet service provider compant in Malaysia. TM Berhad or previously known as Telekom Malaysia Berhad is the parent company of Streamyx.

Notably TM Net offers its internet Digital Subscriber Line broadband with the trade name Streamyx.

TM Net was established in 1995 by Telekom Malaysia Bhd (which later transformed into TM Berhad) as part of Malaysia National Broadband Plan. It was originally started on a trial basis between TMnet and COINS.The earliest commercial test of xDSL by TM was done via a service known as HiS that was deployed jointly with Ericsson in 1999.

The original Streamyx broadband internet service was introduced in 04 2001 at speeds of 384kbps.

In June 2007, Streamyx commences the high speed 4MBps service which is currently, is the highest available speed.

On 10 12 2009, TMNet Streamyx announced a new 15mbps fiber optic service under High Speed Broadband (HSBB) and is estimated to be launched by 03 2010.At present the Malaysian internet infrastructure have been determined as not reaching the recent requirements as needed by basic web applications such as YouTube, Skype and hence concludes that Malaysia may not in due course reap the gains of broadband internet.The HSBB or known as High Speed Broadband project was formulated to develop Malaysia internet infrastructure to that of a developed nation.
